MY 80’s HEAVY METAL SUPERGROUP

Hey Metalheads! Happy Wednesday! Hope your week is going well. I was thinking about today’s blog post and thought to myself, if I could make a supergroup of musicians from some of my favorite bands from the 80’s who would I choose. Below are my choices for my ultimate 80’s supergroup:

DAVE LOMBARDO – DRUMS

MY TOP 5 METAL BANDS COUNTDOWN

In the top spot of my Top 5 metal bands is a band who speaks for themselves…The Metal Gods Indeed:

JUDAS PRIEST

Judas-Priest-metal maniacsL to R: Dave Holland, Glenn Tipton, Rob Halford, KK Dowing, and Ian Hill

What can you say about a band who’s career spans almost 50 years, has released 18 studio albums, performed on numerous sold out tours and in my opinion are and will always be the Gods of Metal that hasn’t already been said.

Formed in 1969, Judas Priest has gone through almost everything a band can go through in their career.  Numerous line-up changes, singer Rob Halford leaving and then returning to the band and founding member KK Dowing’s departure from the band in 2011 just to name a few. Priest has proven that through it all they still and always will be the METAL GODS!

The band still continues to sell out shows and is currently co-headlining with Deep Purple on a tour that will run through late September 2018. Earlier this year, guitarist Glenn Tipton announced that he would not be touring due to Parkinson’s disease, but has not ruled out guest performances and has made a few appearances at shows on the tour.  The current band consists of Rob Halford, Ian Hill, Richie Faulkner, Scott Travis and Andy Sneap filling in for Glenn.
